Open for Tours – acrylic on canvas painting from Karla Fowler

It’s such a privilege to have a front row (or should we say dockside) view of all of the handsome & historic tugboats and tall ships that make Olympia Harbor Days one of the year’s most anticipated family events. 44 years ago, this annual community event started with very humble roots, as a simple gathering of working crews and family members to celebrate the end of their busy season. Childhood’s End has been proud to support this Olympia tradition all these years!

This Labor Day weekend, our nautical community will join up with our Arts community to bring you the best of both. The gallery will have several acrylic on canvas paintings from Karla Fowler, featuring many familiar tugs, including Olympia’s own beloved, floating museum, The Sandman. In addition to Fowler’s paintings here at the gallery, you will be able to see 4 local artists from Plein Air Washington in action, Saturday, along the boardwalk. Watch, and get inspired by Karen Bakke, Ned Mueller, Jane Wallis & Robin Weiss as they capture the colors, excitement & fun of this year’s events on canvas.

When you stop by to see Karla’s tug paintings, swing in to the gallery and take in the Women Painters of Washington exhibit. Then come back in October for Arts Walk to see one of our favorite women painters, Marilyn Frasca‘s newest work.
