Colleen Cotey’s “Olympia Oyster” on display outside City Hall.

If you missed out on seeing the Olympia Oyster by resident artist, Colleen Cotey displayed on Olympia’s Percival Landing last year, don’t fret. The Goliath mollusk is sitting pretty guarding City Hall for a while.

Colleen’s sculpture was voted the favorite by the public in last year’s Plinth Project. It just seemed to be the fitting choice to have such an iconic image of the Northwest and our capital city represented in a larger than life representation. We have been fortunate to feature Colleen’s wire sculptures, as well as other Plinth Project artists including Lin McJunkin in the gallery the last few years. If you haven’t taken the time to stroll the boardwalk yet this year, there’s no time like the present.

Keep your eyes open for the banners featuring work from two more great Olympia artists, Doyle Fanning & Sherry Buckner, that will soon be going up along Capital Way early next month! We’ll let you know more about it in an upcoming post.
