This season’s holiday exhibit showcases a wide range of media and imagination. We invite you to come downtown and take a look.

Hopefully you read about the dog portraits from Amy Fisher we mentioned last week. Amy has also brought in a series of small ceramic tiles of the same loyal subjects, certain to remind you of a dog that has touched your life.

After months of laboring on a large “copper quilt” installation in Tacoma, Shelley Carr is finally back doing her copper etchings on a more familiar scale. Smaller pieces, but a wide range of content – sea life, Olympia landmarks, harbors, chickens and our own majestic Capitol Building.

The glint of copper carries over to Colleen Cotey‘s wire sculptures. This former Artswalk cover artist again proves her affection & knowledge of the animal kingdom. This grouping focuses on native birds with several wall pieces mounted on wood.

Etchings of a very different sort are back from artist Stephen McMillan. The detail in McMillan’s work is so precise, they are often mistaken for photographs. Our coastal inlets and mountain ranges again come alive in these amazing aquatints.

Earle McNeil works hand-in-hand with Mother Nature as he breathes new life into native woods. The majority of the wood in his turned bowls & plates is harvested from windfalls from the Olympia area. He has also brought us incredible laminated and turned kaleidoscopes with amazing optics.

Warm, earthy, tones and scuptural elements wrap the artistic, yet very usable stoneware of Rabun Thompson. Oversized trays, vases, lidded jars, wall hangings and teapots are beautifully functional and his 6 foot stoneware totem is a show stopper.

Our customers always look forward to the linoleum block prints of Mimi Williams. Once again, Mimi unveils a surprising mix of bright and bold content. We see a much more whimsical approach to our local landscapes here along with chickens and even beer!

The most recent artist to join the gallery is Deanna Kiliz, bringing her magical, hand sculpted polymer clay marionettes and figurines. You’ll feel like you are gazing upon a fairy tale when you look at our window display. The detail on these characters is fantastic, each one with it’s own distinct personality.

Don’t forget, the Downtown for the Holidays celebration is Sunday, November 30th!
