With the sensory overload surrounding “Black Friday” may we suggest an alternative? Rather than getting up at the crack of dawn, serpentining a parking lot ten times, still having to walk a half mile and then standing in line for your purchases, instead, sleep in Friday, marathon your favorite movies and catch up with the family and friends who made the effort to spend the holiday with you.  Then get the gang together Saturday and come downtown to connect with your community for “Small Business Saturday.”

The holidays are the perfect time to re-discover the core of our city. You will find our shops loaded with unique gifts, charming boutiques, fabulous restaurants, antiques and specialty services. Shopping downtown Olympia’s locally owned businesses keeps more of the dollars you spend in our community.  You’ll feel empowered knowing you are strengthening our local economy and reducing the environmental impact. All this, just for enjoying a great morning coffee, finding the perfect gifts, indulging on artisan food and creating special memories with loved ones.

If you can’t make it Saturday or are up for more fun Sunday then join us for the kickoff of the season with “Downtown for the Holidays.” Watch the Holiday Parade, listen to live music and see the Tree Lighting Ceremony in Sylvester Park.  Be sure to stop by the gallery.  Our holiday exhibit is up now and our magical window display featuring marionettes by Deanna Kiliz is worth a look!  Downtown will be having a window display contest in December, check back for details.

Parking is FREE Friday November 28th and always on Saturdays & Sundays
