Dannielle Carbone
Sandrhyme Jewelry
With an innate passion for beads and antiquity, Dannielle Carbone has spent a lifetime collecting, designing and creating her unusual and eclectic jewelry. Each bead is individually selected and hand-threaded to form a uniquely wearable piece of art.
Humans have been adorning themselves with jewelry for millennia. Beaded body decorations were created to celebrate and trade as well as symbolize status, faith and wealth.
Traditional local materials were carved, cast, beaten, and polished to create indigenous art that has survived through the centuries. In many countries today, these beads are still being made by local tribes and artisans who are keeping the traditions, and the stories behind every bead, alive…
Inspiration comes from the history ingrained in every bead, and Dannielle subtly balances and reflects that with an intuitive eye for complementary color and shape.
I began designing and making jewelry in New York City about 20 years ago. Living and working in that exciting city with so much diversity and art inspired my work. In 2002 I moved, with my husband John, to Vashon Island, near Seattle, WA. The island is home to many artists who work in various mediums. I source beads from all over the world. Many are very old and unusual tribal beads from Africa and Asia. The beads themselves inspire my work - each piece is designed to showcase them in unique and beautiful settings. "Every bead tells a story" really does describe how my work evolves and develops. John and I love living on Vashon with our two dogs, George and Ruby. John is a commercial fisherman and helps with clasping and shipping. I sell to wonderful small shops and boutiques all over the country and am excited to have this new opportunity to feature my designs!
