Samic Bass Guitar - mixed metals by Tom Anderson

We are pleased to be showing new work from a gallery favorite, Tom Anderson.

You may be familiar with this Olympia artist’s distinctive style from prior exhibits, or have passed by one of his public art pieces that can be found at Providence St. Peter’s Hospital, Panorama City or The Park of the Seven Oars connecting Olympia’s West Side and Downtown corridors among many more. Anderson is also recognized for his Art Glass work, having attended the acclaimed Pilchuck Glass School, was instrumental in establishing KAOS radio station and is a strong supporter of The Olympia ArtSpace Alliance.

Tom’s mixed media palate is well harmonized in these latest pieces. Wood, copper, aluminum and found or repurposed elements are often embellished with gold leaf, varnish or other finishes to create a bold, balanced end result. The gallery is very excited to be displaying three of Anderson’s Art Guitars for the first time with this show. These are sure to spark the interest of anybody who appreciates Rock music – whether you have ever played one or not. One of these beautiful, curvy instruments would add a cool, edgy vibe to a den or office, or make a dramatic compliment to one of his abstract wall pieces, and yes, they are functional.

Also showing in this exhibit, are fine art prints by Beki Killorin and Barbara Pihos.
