"Night Spirits II", wood block print with 22k and aluminum leaf by Kristen Etmund.

If you missed Arts Walk last weekend, don’t despair – our exhibit is still up for viewing until mid November.

We were very fortunate to host Cover Artist, Kristen Etmund‘s warm, soulful, wood block prints. Kristen’s series features characters that are often elusive and not always endearing – a bat, coyote, barn owl among them. Etmund has the ability to enable us to find the beauty and vulnerability of these creatures and their surroundings. The cover art features a lovely fox being pestered by moths, though that piece has been purchased by the City of Olympia, there is still a companion print available. This series of prints was created in small editions and are selling well. If you are interested in this body of work, you will want to come in soon!

Another of our featured artists is Chris Maynard. Our Arts Walk guests were so fascinated with his minute cutouts and silhouettes using feathers, that he has generously offered to come back for an artist talk. Join us Friday October 17th for a reception from 6-7pm, followed by a talk from 7-8. Learn more about this unique technique, materials and Maynard’s insight.

Also in the gallery, is stone sculpture, truely artifacts of the future, from M.J. Anderson, oils on canvas of birds and flowers by, Michael Dickter and the glowing photographs from noted Northwest photographer, Keith Lazelle.

Support the creativity of these and many more Northwest artists by voting for Childhood’s End Gallery in the KING 5’s Best of the Northwest poll.
