Keep your calendar for Friday open and plan on a little get away Downtown.

Labor Day weekend kicks off Friday,  August 30th with an Artist’s Reception from 5-7pm at Childhood’s End Gallery. This exhibit, “Northwest Landscapes,” will feature five returning painters as well as introduce a new glass artist for us. Oils from Cal Capener, watercolors by Julie Creighton & Beverly Fotheringham, photo collages from Doyle Fanning and acrylics by Paul Lewing will all have a Northwest focus. We will be introducing complimentary pieces from Bob Heath, of his contemporary, fused and sand carved glass. Be sure to stop in and meet these well respected artists, learn about their technique and why so many choose our glorious regional backdrop as their subjects.

After the reception, be sure to stroll along the boardwalk and get the first glimpse of the mighty tugboats that have taken over our port for Harbor Days this weekend. If you haven’t walked Percival Landing since it has been upgraded, than you will also want to check out all of the sculptures that were entered in this year’s Plinth Project.
