“Three Singing Birds” & “Three Owls” – new shadowboxes from Chris Maynard

Olympia artist, Chris Maynard, has been very busy the last few months with out of area shows & installations, travel and an interview published in American Art Collector Magazine’s June issue. Chris has quickly become one of our most admired artists, and is widely recognized for his distinctive craft of using hand cut feathers to create his one-of-a -kind shadowboxes.

New to the gallery are “Three Singing Birds” and “Three Owls,” both just over 18″ in height,  a great size that looks fantastic in a grouping, or captivating as a single piece & focal point in a home or office. “Three Singing Birds” is comprised of a trio of birds, cut from a single turkey feather, and various surrounding parrot feathers feathers, which add color and depth to the piece. The oscillated turkey feathers used to create “Three Owls,” have a striking iridescent streak, allowing one to experience a rainbow of changing colors, depending on lighting and the angle from which it is viewed. Chris’ work is highly collectable and they likely won’t be here long. We have several shadow boxes in from Chris, just around the corner from our gallery’s current show which runs through July 9th.
