Getting a preview of amazing Summer-like weather has reminded us of how fortunate we are to have a personal connection to Puget Sound. The coves and inlets, craggy windswept trees, mountainous backdrops and lonely sandy beaches are just a few of the reasons the watercolors from Julie Creighton and Beverly Fotheringham resonate with so many of us here in the Northwest.

Julie has transformed a broad color range into soft, soothing finished pieces.  The late day sunlight breaking through the trees onto a pebbly beach in “Evening Glow” uses the full spectrum.  And yet, “Silent Silhouettes” is an example of a calming, monotone palette with marine life harmoniously going about their day.

Beverly is a master of capturing the relationship between light and water. We have been happy to have exhibited her watercolors in the past, but are pleased to display a collection of mixed media miniatures in this show as well. In addition to familiar coastal imagery including tall ships and tugboats that frequent our waterways, Fotheringham has brought us lovely structural images and flawless felines in miniature as well.

This exhibit will run June 2nd through July 9th. Fathers Day is June 18th, and  a great reason to  get Dad out of the house to enjoy an experience in Downtown Olympia.
