March exhibit kicks off with an artist's reception Friday March 10th fro 5 - 7.

March exhibit features block prints, papercuts & serigraphs.

Join us for our latest exhibit opening with an artist’s reception from 5 – 7 pm, Friday March 10th.

Sherry’s Buckner‘s artistic inspiration comes naturally from her lovely Washington State surroundings. Listening to music helps guide her and sets the tone for her work which we have seen in serigraphs in prior shows. Now we are pleased to have the addition of pastels for this exhibit. Fields, wetlands, coastlines and the creatures that inhabit them, are often the subject matter for this Olympia artist.

The intricate details of Aki Sogabe‘s papercuts are so precisely done that you will find it hard to believe they are cut by hand with just an Xacto knife. Aki taught herself the art of “Kirie” as a schoolgirl in Singapore and perfected it after moving to the Northwest, often the subject matter for many of her pieces.  Sogabe’s work has been installed at the Pike Place Market, JBLM and has been purchased by both the States of Washington and Oregon.

Block prints by our second Olympia artist in the show, Mimi Williams, are always happy, vivid, bold and fun. Williams has a lighthearted way of depicting every day life and places we take for granted, while adding a colorful, often humorous twist. From a happy mutt with its nose out a car window to honey bees on a patchwork quilt, you will see why her work is always anticipated here at the gallery.

We are always delighted to exhibit the stunning block prints of Yoshiko Yamamoto. These prints have a way of drawing you in. You first notice the familiar imagery of landscapes & botanicals and the beautiful, hand made craftsman-style frames. But, it is often something subtle – a leaf or petal that fall slightly outside her crisp lines, that encourage you take a closer look.

We will have notecards available from all four of our exhibitors so that you may pick some up and share their talent and creativity!
