Warm and earthy tones wrap the latest pottery from Reid Ozaki, now on exhibit at the gallery.

Firing pottery in a wood fired kiln is an ancient technique, but takes years to master. Reid has done just that and it is apparent in this new collection of work. The bottles, teapots, sake servers and bowls are all soda fired, which gives them a more organic, matte finish than most pottery we see anymore. Ozaki has worked closely for years with John Benn, Colleen Gallagher & Susan Lochner, sharing the duties and commitment attached to using a communal wood fire kiln.

Reid has many accomplishments as a artist including public collections at the Smithsonian and American Museum of Ceramic Artists. We are fortunate to have Reid Ozaki as one of our resident artists. The current exhibit also featuring mixed media from Liza Brenner & Susan Aurand runs through September 4th.
