"Mount Rainier at White Pass" - Block print by Yoshiko Yamamoto

“Mount Rainier at White Pass” – Block Print by Yoshiko Yamamoto

Childhood’s End has so many fans of Tacoma block print artist, Yoshiko Yamamoto, it was no surprise when we sold the first two framed prints of her latest triptych, “Mount Rainier at White Pass,” before we even had time to blog about it! This is a gorgeous piece that we all can relate to – our majestic pride and joy of the Pacific Northwest, basking in the glow of one of our lovely, sunlit days.

In addition to this new work, we received several of Yamamoto’s earlier framed prints as well. Many of the pieces are endearing images of botanicals – beets, lavenderpoppies, landscapes showing local tulip fields and chickadees in a dogwood tree. Masterfully framed in an Arts & Crafts style, solid oak frame, they look great in almost any style of home or office. Many more images are available unframed, as cards or offered on Motawi tiles as well.

If you weren’t able to join us for Nikki McClure’s Artist talk, or see her at the library last Saturday, be sure read the article in last week’s entertainment guide from The Olympian. The piece will give you a good understanding of the inspiration behind her artwork, book writing and outlook on life and family. Her newest book, “Waiting for High Tide,” is still available at the gallery.
