We open the year with a lovely, collaborative exhibit between four Washington artists. “Imagine It Gone” brings together work from glass sculptor, Lin McJunkin & metal artist, Milo White, the abstract acrylic & mixed media assemblages of Ann Vandervelde and poetry from Anne McDuffie.

Returning artist, Lin McJunkin has partnered her crisp, crystalline, fused glass with the strong, distinctive lines of metal artist Milo White. Light and dark, sharp and smooth, the fragility of the glass and the permanence of the steel come together, perfectly balanced. The recycled materials that are used come together creating something totally independent of their original purpose.

The textures, colors, shading and use of space in Ann Vandervelde‘s acrylic & mixed media paintings partner beautifully with the sculptures in this exhibit. Executing her visions through paint, fabric, claybord, paper & canvas, Vandervelde, like McJunkin & White, draws her inspiration from her natural and created surroundings and ever changing environment.

Binding the thoughts and visual creativeness of these three artists are Japanese tanka poems by Anne McDuffie. McDuffie soulfully translates into words, her observations and concerns of our world as we know it – it’s beauty, vulnerability, changes that are occurring and what may yet be.

This thought provoking exhibit will run January 15th -February 28th.
