Doyle Fanning, this Fall’s Arts Walk cover artist, is quickly becoming one of our areas most talked about artists. We are very pleased to be exhibiting her new work and hosting her at Childhood’s End for this event.

“Shadow Crow” and “Birth of Spirit” two new series of photo collage prints, both have a mystical, earthy, feminine quality to them. The work in “Shadow Crow” has silhouettes of the iconic birds against soft, smokey backgrounds and a single floral stem. “Birth of Spirit” in contrast, shows us deep, saturated, autumnal tones, with a very spiritual, almost ritualistic feeling to them.  Goddess like figures and strong imagery of nature are highlighted in this body of work, again with a solitary crow in each piece.

Also in this exhibit are oils by Susan Aurand, woodblock prints and needle felted birds from Kristen Etmund, monotypoe & pastel by Marilyn Frasca, the ceramic sculpture of John & Robin Gumaelius, cut feather shadowboxes from Chris Maynard, linocut prints by Chandler O’Leary and needle felted wool tapestries from Stacy Polson.

Put on some sensible shoes, find your favorite hoodie and grab a scarf. This is Arts Walk!
