2014 Plinth Project winner, Rain Forest Dream" by Leo E. Osborne

As you are strolling Olympia’s boardwalk toward Farmer’s Market, or driving down State Street and nearing the 4th Avenue, have you ever caught a glimpse of the revolving selection of public art?  Ever wonder why a sculpture was up for months, suddenly gone, then mysteriously replaced by something new? Well, the answer is, the Percival Plinth Project.

Each year, local and regional artists loan pieces of their work to be displayed on several plinths spread along the Percival Landing boardwalk for one year. YOU, the admiring and powerful public, are encouraged to vote for your favorite. When a winner is chosen, it is then purchased by the city to be permanently displayed for public viewing at another Olympia location. All other pieces will remain up until next Summer’s event, and will be available for private purchase after the exhibit ends.

Make this a fun outing with family or friends. Grab a cup of coffee, meander, down the boardwalk, cast your vote and reward yourself with a great lunch and topped off with a scoop of locally made ice cream!

Ballots are available at Percival Landing and may be submitted at the Olympia Center, a weekend drop box or by mail.
