Beth Brooks
I have been a pastel painter since 2003, and am now a signature member of the Northwest Pastel Society. It has been a magical partnership that continues to grow. My excitement with the medium comes with having every nuance of pure, intense color at my fingertips. The brilliance of pastels enhances my love of drawing and exploration of light and form.
My subject matter is ever changing, but whatever inspires me, it is the unique light and color that illuminate a special moment in time. It might be people engaged in the ordinary pursuits of everyday life, wildlife in their surroundings, early morning and evening landscapes, harbor scenes, and occasionally still life. My goal is to reveal the dignity and beauty of my subjects, and to invite you, the viewer, to participate in the event.
My bachelors of Arts degree is from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. I have traveled extensively, and have experienced and participated in the diverse cultures of Europe, Mexico, Guatemala, Yugoslavia, India, and Madagascar. This wealth of experience continues to fuel my artistic adventures.
